Usually not, and here's why: we buy through distributor relationships at volume pricing that individual firms can't match. More importantly, the real cost of buying yourself isn't the hardware. It's the time to spec, configure, deploy, and troubleshoot when something doesn't work. A laptop that takes you 4 hours to unbox, image, install software, and deploy costs your firm $400+ in billable time. We deliver it ready to use.

It depends on the software and workload. For users running CCH Axcess, Lacerte, or Drake locally: modern Intel i5 or better, 16-32GB RAM, SSD storage, and dual monitors. For cloud-only users: smaller machines work fine. We spec based on actual software requirements, not marketing fluff. And we standardize on configurations so your fleet is consistent and easy to support.

Yes. We handle the entire warranty process. If a device fails under warranty, we coordinate with the manufacturer, arrange replacement or repair, and swap the user's data over. Your staff doesn't have to deal with manufacturer support lines.

Part of our managed IT service. When you hire someone new, you tell us and we have a configured workstation ready for their first day. Software, security, VPN access, email, Teams: all set up. They log in and they're working. Typical onboarding from 'we hired someone' to 'their machine is ready' is 2-3 business days.

We plan for this. Many CPA firms hire seasonal staff for January-April. We keep a stock of pre-configured machines ready to deploy during tax season surge hiring, and we return them to inventory when the temporary staff leaves. You don't buy 20 laptops for temp staff.
