Cloud Services for Accounting Firms

Work from anywhere. Stay compliant everywhere.

Modern accounting firms aren't tied to a single office. We move your firm to the cloud (Microsoft 365, Azure, and hosted accounting software) so your team works seamlessly from anywhere, with compliance and performance built in.

What We Do

Cloud that fits the way accounting firms work.

Every capability is configured for CPA workflows, not a generic IT deployment.

Microsoft 365 for Accounting Firms

Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive, configured with the security and compliance settings CPA firms actually need. Not a generic M365 deployment.

Azure Infrastructure

Virtual servers, Azure Virtual Desktop, and backup in the Microsoft cloud. Replace aging on-prem servers with infrastructure that scales during tax season and quiets down the rest of the year.

Cloud and Hosted Accounting Platforms

Cloud-native platforms like CCH Axcess and Thomson Reuters CS Suite, plus hosted environments for desktop tax software like Lacerte and Drake that aren't cloud-native. Terminal server environments tuned for the performance accounting software demands.

Secure Remote Access

VPN, zero-trust, or Azure Virtual Desktop: we design the right remote access architecture for your firm and lock it down. Your staff works from home with no performance or security compromise.

Client Collaboration Portals

Secure client file exchange, e-signature, and project workflows that beat emailing spreadsheets. Integrates with SmartVault, ShareFile, TaxDome, and the portal tools your clients already know.

Cloud Security & Compliance

Azure AD/Entra ID, conditional access, MFA everywhere, DLP, encryption at rest and in transit. Configured to meet IRS Pub 4557 and FTC Safeguards requirements from day one.

Multi-Office Collaboration

If your firm has multiple offices, the cloud stitches them together. Same files, same systems, same experience whether your team is in Boston or Providence.

Performance Optimization

Tax software has specific latency and bandwidth requirements. We tune cloud environments so CCH Axcess doesn't freeze at 11pm on April 14th.

Disaster Recovery

Cloud-to-cloud backups and geo-redundancy built into our standard deployment. Lose a file, recover it. Lose a server, we spin up a replacement in minutes.

Why move to the cloud

Your aging server is a liability. We can fix that.

The on-premise servers running your firm today were probably installed 5-8 years ago. They need hardware refreshes, they're expensive to maintain, they're a single point of failure, and they don't scale. Moving to the cloud isn't about being trendy. It's about reducing risk and cost.

  • No more hardware refresh cycles every 3-5 years
  • Scalable capacity during tax season, lower costs off-season
  • Automatic disaster recovery and geo-redundancy
  • Security updates and patches handled continuously
  • Works from any device, anywhere, without sacrificing performance
  • Lower total cost of ownership over 3-5 years
We had a failing server right before tax season. Tech Advisors didn't just replace the hardware. They built us a cloud environment that was faster, more reliable, and let our team work from home during busy season. We'll never go back to on-prem.

Questions & Answers

Cloud Services: Common Questions

For most accounting firms under 100 employees, the cloud is now the better choice: lower total cost of ownership, better security, easier remote work, and no more capital expenses on server hardware. The exception is firms with specific software that requires local installation or firms with very slow internet connections. We do a real cost/benefit analysis during your free assessment, not a sales pitch.

Yes — but the architecture differs by product. CCH Axcess is cloud-native, so it just runs in a browser. Lacerte and Drake are locally-installed Windows applications, so we host them on Azure Virtual Desktop or a hosted terminal-server environment to make them accessible from anywhere. Each path has tradeoffs for performance, cost, and user experience. We design the right architecture for your specific software stack and user count.

This is the #1 concern we hear about cloud migrations. The answer: (1) we design redundant internet connections as part of the deployment, (2) modern cloud software is very resilient to brief interruptions, (3) many hosted environments cache work locally during outages. Firms that properly set up their cloud environment experience less tax-season downtime than firms on aging on-prem servers.

Typically improves it, significantly. Microsoft Azure and M365 have HIPAA and GDPR certifications at the platform level. They provide encryption, access logging, MFA, and DLP out of the box. You still need to configure it correctly (that's where we come in) and maintain your WISP, but you inherit a tremendous amount of security from Microsoft's infrastructure.

Yes. That's a primary reason firms move to cloud. Whether we deploy Azure Virtual Desktop, Citrix, or a traditional VPN depends on your software and user count. Your team logs in from home, gets the same apps and files they have in the office, and can work at full productivity. Especially important during tax season when extended remote hours are common.

We plan migrations around your calendar. Never during tax season. Never during extension filing windows. We build a staged plan: migrate email first, then files, then applications, then decommission old servers. Your team tests each phase before the next. The whole process typically takes 4-8 weeks depending on complexity.

Over 3-5 years, cloud is usually 20-30% less expensive than maintaining on-prem servers when you account for hardware refresh cycles, power, cooling, maintenance, and upgrade projects. Monthly costs are higher (you're paying operating expense instead of capital expense), but total cost of ownership is typically lower, especially for firms under 50 users.
